I am responding to Dr. Alam's message of comment posted with
a comment of my own below   My comment is an attempt to 
address the language barriers that exist among us, not only 
culturally, but as to scientific understanding as well.  

IMHO, it is these language difficulties that create huge communication
barriers between us, and consequently huge misunderstandings, that
must somehow be overcome is we are to make peace among ourselves.

So, i do hope list members will pay close attention to this, so that we
may be the change we wish to see in our lives. We must become crystal
clear about what it is we are doing here. 

In order to change the world from one of war to one of peace, we must 
change the way we think. And, in order to do this, as we have hopefully
learned from reading the articles written by Dr. Bruce Lipton, we must
consciously choose to "reprogram our sub-conscious mind" so that if 
we are going to be led around by it as we run on "auto-pilot," that it is
fully "in-formed' and developed to its "full potential self," as expressed
by Dr. V. Vernon Woolf.

      Wonderful to learn about the psychoneuroimmunological coorelates of the spiritual practices. Piou Muslim practioners of prayers can be condidered  to be achieving the same along with the controls that are required as part of making ecologically safe responses. Pleare consider reading the work of Morris Berman on the spiritual traditions in Europe .My advocacy for adoption of prayer 5 times a day is based on the recognition of interfaith commons. Please do not judge all the faith based communication on the basis of misdeeds and sins and some men and women supposed to associated with some faith group. "Islam" is an abstract noun and a religion to which we try to endeovour seeking guidance of Almighty in all the prayers.         Dear Dr. Alam,  .  

        It is my feeling that we are getting closer in understanding.  And, what I would like to suggest here is that in order for there to be complete understanding we need to drop all references to religious beliefs because they carry with them so much "cultural baggage" which tends to obscure the real biology of human consciousness which differs from all other consciousness.  And when this happens it creates an abstract definition of what some call "God," and others may call "The Universal Mind," and others may call "Allah," while yet others may call "Buddha.".  But, when we consider this in scientific terms, it becomes  "generic" term:  "The Life Force," which is contained within each of us. 

        This life force, according to scientific research is composed of the four forces that were left after the "Big Bang".  Here is a website that defines these four forces:  http://www.foge.org/lesson_plans/materials/spacescience_07a.pdf

        But the source I have found which most closely defines these forces is "Electromagnetism And The Sacred" written by Dr. Lawrence Fagg, Ph.D., a nuclear physicist and a theologian.  These four forces are identified as the: strong, weak, electromagnetic and gravitational. And, of these it is the electromagnetic force that plays the greatest role in the creation of life. In his book, Dr. Fagg writes that "the electromagnetic force underlies all of life."  And, it is this force that sets up all energy fields and provides form to life and all other things. And, for anyone attempting to understand energy fields, may I suggest the book entitled simply: "The Field" by Lynne McTaggart. 

        However, for our purposes here, this definition below may suffice:  
          The energy field surrounds and permeates all living beings. It is the scaffolding for our physical body. Within the energy field of each person are seven major centers. Each of these centers energizes or vitalizes its related nerve center, endocrine gland, and internal organ system: the circulatory system. It is within this energy field that the cause of disease appears to be located. 
        Long studied over thousands of years by those who developed the Chinese martial art of Tai Chi, from which all other martial art and healing modalities are derived, and by those who developed medicine in that country, there is recognition of both the life force and of what is called "meridian points" in the human body. These meridian points are where the energy forces intersect in the body and serve to create both body and emotional balance".   However, until very recently, this knowledge has been ignored and denied by the Western world as it has turned increasingly toward "pharmaceutical medicine' in order to make money from illness rather than to develop natural healing modalities as practiced for over four thousand years by the Chinese and other Eastern countries. This has been much to the detriment of the Western world and only recently have people in the Western world begun to turn to Eastern practices of healing. However, as the people of the Western world increasingly turned to this modality, the high priests, as I call them, of the Western World have increasingly sought to force the people into compliance with Western ideology.

        In reposting this, I not only want to reinforce Dr. Rima's message, but I want to use this as a demonstration of an "energy field" -- one set up and created by thought and language to address the actions of others, and, in this case the negative "actions" of others, as Dr. Rima asks us for our support.  

        What I found most interesting, was that in this morning's e-mail to the Co-learner's list, I also found another message from Dr. Alam. And I am going to post a portion of it here as well.  And, in so doing, I want to point out that we are here creating another energy field -- a field that is intended as instructional, but carries with it what I have formerly referred to as "cultural baggage" in the form of religious terrns, and when I wite this, it is by no means intended to be a negative comment, only to point out hopefully, in my clumsy manner, that what we need is a "common" language, understood by all, that does not obscure the meaning.  And, it appears that science as it reveals the biology/physiology of the human body, may be the best language to use to correctly interpret what consciousness is and how it emanates from the human body as well as from the Universe around us. For, in order to know Allah, or God, or Buddha, we must first know ourselves.  

        Here is a portion of Dr. Alam's message, which I found to be an excellent beginning, perhaps, for us to include in our dialogue.as we search for new meaning which can be understood by all, as there is an attempt here to demonstrate, using anatomical/biological language, how to build a bridge of understanding for those versed in Islamic linguistics, but not yet fully aware. I will be forwarding Dr. Alam's complete message shortly.  And, I will stop here as this is becoming very long and about all that can be absorbed at one time, but, I feel this is something that must be considered later.  mary rose .

        This lesson will help us to have a proper understanding of the definition and meaning of Eemaan. What is eemaan? How do we understand it? Etc. 

        "Eemaan consists of Speech and Action" 
        This is the saying of the Salaf regarding this topic, and this statement needs further clarification and explanation. 
        What is "Speech" and what is "Action"? What is meant by them? How did the Salaf explain this? 
        When we say eemaan is speech, we mean two things: 
          a.. the speech of the heart 
          b.. the speech of the tongue 
        When we say eemaan is action, we mean three things: 
          a.. the actions of the heart 
          b.. the actions of the tongue 
          c.. the actions of the limbs 
        For this reason we find that the Scholars of the Salaf (such as Ibn al-Qayyim, Ibn Taymiyyah etc.) have statements similar to the following: 

        Eemaan is the speech of the heart and tongue, and the actions of the heart, tongue and limbs.
