Hi Tim,
I don't make a habit of going to Counterpunch for news as I
generally rely on Paul's wisdom at the RiseUp news list to shuffle
through and send out what is relevant. And then I select anything
that catches my eye from his list to forward to the Co-learner's
list. And, over the years I do believe this Global Net News
service has served us all well. However, Carolyn Baker's website,
"Speaking Truth to Powr, which features articles selected by Carolyn,
has had some excellent news stories on it that I felt worth forwarding
to the list. And the two-part article on Obama by Pam Martens was
featured on Carolyn's list. I also reviewed the April 2007 list of
articles published on Counterpunch from which you took the quote
above. And, I have to say that I was not impressed with Cockburn's
article. However, I did note that some very good articles were featured
that month on Counterpunch written by some respected names in
journalism today: Paul Craig Roberts, Ralph Nader, Mike Whitney,
and Dave Lindorf, each of which had several articles each to their credit
for the month of April 2007. So, I have to conclude that Counterpunch
can't be all bad, or all good. But, then what newspaper, on or offline is?
What I feel is tremendously sad, is that our political system is controlled
by the same people who control the Global Monetocracy System. And,
that anyone aspiring to the presidency must either accept funding from
the GMS or be forced out of the game.
And, certainly Pam Martens was thorough in documenting where Obama's
funding was coming from. And when coupled with the accusations of Ray
Wright, his former minister, I suspect that the old adage "where there is
smoke there is fire" is true. And, this certainly needs further
investigation,
not so much to cast a shadow over Obama, but to bring to the attention
of the public at large, that we-the-people are not in charge here and
literally
have no say-so in issues relevant to government.
Let's note here that Pam Martens writes that she likes and respects Obama.
And my feelings are that Obama is as much a victim as are the rest of us.
Not even someone like Jesus Himself could survive in this hellish system
we have, as a collective conscious/unconscious mind, constructed. And,
unless
I am mistaken, Jesus was, symbolically or otherwide, crucified and hung on a
cross by an Empire which certainly resembles that of today. Were we in
normal times and Obama left to his own devices, he would make an excellent
president, but these are surely anything but "normal times". We live in a
world
where "consent" is manufactured on a daily basis and we need to be aware of
the ramifications of this. .
A lot of "gurus" today are telling us that if we want to change the world we
need
to change the way we think. I interpret this to mean that we need to begin
sending
out different "subtle energy vibrations" designed to make "friends" not
"war". We
need to move ourselves from "chaos to coherence" and I think that means
telling
the truth so that we have someplace from which to operate in a "steady
state".
And, I also think that "the truth will set you free" is quite probably
appropriate.
Anyway, this is my two cents worth on the subject.
with love and in gratitude, Tim, for all that you do, and for all that we do
together.
