Co-learners. This is a marvelous resource for us. Dear
friend, Anup Shah, from so many years ago when I was
thrown off of the SIMPOL list for mouthing off, has
accumulated loads of data that tell the real story.
For example, Anup writes with regard to 1) Trade Related Consumption
patterns, below: "Over" population is usually blamed as the major cause of
environmental degradation, but the above statistics strongly suggests
otherwise.
Dr. Alam, this should give you and Dr. Kent Mesplay of the Green Party,
along with others on the Global Justice Movement List, plenty of power for
your efforts in achieving sustainability and ending poverty worldwide. .
I very much agree with Anup that we need the statistics as he urges below,
but am fwd this in the best interests of all concerned, while I look these
things up that he is asking of me. .
With much love and gratitude, Anup, for all that you do and all that we do
together. What a marvelous resource base you have created for the world. I
must remind myself to "consult Anups database" before I publish anything to
see if you have already covered it. Certainly will save time. :
More later - mary rose .Now here's the info from Anup.

Hi,
Hope you are keeping well.
These kind of statistics are really powerful. However, to be shared
widely, in particular to an audience not usually interested in these
issues they need to be sourced/cited, else others will not accept them...
I in particular am interested in the first two stats you have, and the
sources for those stats?
In return, here are a few more :)
http://www.globalissues.org/TradeRelated/Consumption.asp (look for the
World Bank's 2003 figures. The table presented is a bit old, but powerful)
http://www.globalissues.org/TradeRelated/Consumption/Beef.asp (you know
these ones!)

http://www.globalissues.org/TradeRelated/Debt/USAid.asp

I am sure there are more, but that's probably enough for now...
