[GJM] Misallocation of Resources leading to insanity?

Did you know that the U.S. uses 60 - 80% of its oil fighting wars in order to get more oil? 

Did you know that the largest U.S. agricultural sector is LAWNS?  Incredibly, lawns use more equipment, labor, fuel, and agricultural chemicals than all large-scale farming in the United States, making it the largest agricultural sector. 

What happened to food and nutrition as a first consideration? Well, what happened to food and nutrition is that the average transport length from producer to market in the U.S. is 1500 miles!!!!!!!!   

Did you know that it takes 3200 gallons of water to get one pound of beef to market, and that cattle (including milk cows) are now considered to be the number one contributer to global warming through methane emissions?  And we haven't even mentioned yet how many more people could be fed if we stopped cycling grain through beef and ate grain direct. Yet raising beef cattle for market is number three in revenue production in the world?
And now, people not only have to compete with beef cattle for food, they have to compete with cars as well?  Wheeeeh!!!!!  

Did you know that the U.S. became the most prosperous nation in the history of the world in the years since World War II, yet in the same amount of time did more environmental damage than at any time in all of past recorded history? 

And now the solution to the problem is concentration camps and genocide?  

LETS STOP THE INSANITY !!!!!!

I'm going to be posting more of these facts and figures regularly.  Why don't all of you put on your thinking caps and help me accumulate a big list that we can begin to address by "being the change we wish to see in our lives." That is, by voting our dollars in the marketplace to create change where it really counts.  We may not be able to gain control of the monetary system and create reform at the present time, but we-the-people can give money a SOUL by wisely directing where it goes through modifying our spending habits.
