It seems to me that "planned obsolence" is what our present
government administration is planning for itself -- and none too
soon.

I would suggest you do a Google search on "planned obsolescence" to 
see the pros and cons.
But what we need is planned continual use. I am using the garden and 
other tools my father used 100 years ago. They have been carefully 
maintained for many years and still help me grow food for out family. 
There are many tools, some not so old, that make living off the grid, 
growing you own food, and cooperation with neighbors possible and 
enjoyable while leaving a small ecological foot print.
There is a good listserv on "homesteading" that helps think of ways for 
"prolonged planning."

Fixing the government is not one of them. But fixing ourselves is.

Get out of the money system.
