Urban Kohler and I want to re-design money (or have someone else
better at it than we are, do the job)-- so that need is better
satisfied and avoidable systemic error (within the money system) is
corrected ASAP.

Easier said than done.

Production for need has long been the demand of critics on the left.
The demand is made but it is not heeded. Production has been
procurable for money for thousands of years and by means of forced
labor even longer.

But production for need gets no where, because one man's "need" is
another man's "so what". Money always works because it is universally
loved. Take away the love of money and you're left with counterfeit coin.

Urban and I, in our mind's eye, see real -- no counterfeit -- money in
abundance. Everyone is working for it and everyone is hoarding it
under the floor boards. The more they work, the more they hoard, and
the more they produce for sale on main street. The shops are open, the
shelves are full, people are at work, and every need is satisfied.

We are in Switzerland, not America. And stupid people do not live here.

John, designing a new monetary system is not "the problem" as I
see it.  

There are quite a few people working on a new design. . 
-- The problem is:  how to implement a new system when
the elite, or the powerbrokers, or whatever it is you want
to call them, remain in control. 

Is this not the problem?  

But another possibility is that the elite power brokers have already
designed, and are implementing a new system, with one part being
the Euro, and the other being the new Amero. And, that along with
implementing these two new systems, which would compete with
one another and aid in maintaining balance, they are also 
re-constructing the trade routes from an east - west configuration
to a north-south configuration, so as to be "land-based" rather than
water-based, in an attempt to connect the Global South and North
in ways that distribute goods and services more equitably among
the world's people. 

While this may not be the "intent," (and I don't know that it is), from my 
experience with the Hands Across the Border: Operation Lifesave,
I can see how the above configuration would make sense.  Already
the State of California from above Los Angeles south does more 
business with Mexico than with any other U.S. state to the East of it.

It might pay us to study the proposal of ecological designer, Jim Bell, who
has created a plan demonstrating that the San Diego - Tijuana region 
is a perfect example of a bio-region.  The definition of a bioregion being:
" A territory defined by a combination of biological, social, and geographic 
criteria, rather than geopolitical considerations."  For a free download

Interestingly enough, In his book: The End of the Nation - State, The Rise of 
Regional Economies, economist Kenichi Ohmae makes an arguement that 
the traditional nation-state, now dominated by domestic special interests, 
with a government which has become  "an enemy of the public at large," 
is also an inefficient and impossible means of conducting business in 
the new globalized economy. Instead, Ohmae envisions autonomous networks 
of geographically- linked  regional zones,  which forge productive ties with one 
another by putting the right policies, information technology and infrastructure in 
place. Examples of emerging region states cited in Ohmae's book are the San 
Diego/Tijuana region; along with Hong Kong and southern China;  northern Italy 
and the Rhine-Alps region of France. 

My contention also is that simply due to advanced communications technology and
the conduct of world business, we are already a "globalized enconomy" with little
chance of us returning to any previous configuration. Consequently, this is going te
be a time of immense change for us as we struggle with a transformation that far
exceeds that of the Industrial Revolution in terms of systemic upheaval. One of the
biggest and most basic of questions may be whether or not the human psyche,
as a collective consciousness, can withstand the tremendous amount of change
that is now, and will continue to be for many decades, demanded of us.     .      

So, what appears here is that, at least in the case of the San Diego - Tijuana  area,
regionalism would be beneficial from both an economic standpoint which benefits
people, and from an ecological point-of-view that benefits as well. 

This is not unlike the proposal offered by Roy Madron and John Jopling in GAIAN
DEMOCRACIES. - Redefining Blobalisation & People Power," No. Nine in A Series
of Briefings by the Schumacher Foundation. 

Where I am coming from, and always have been, is not too far from the concept of the 
Just Third Way, as promoted by Norm Kurland on the Global Justice Movement List. 
However, I have noted some things that I felt should be addressed by that gruop with
regard to the inclusion of women and the partnership way. I would hope, John that 
this is your intent as well.  . 

I am holding the field for the fullest potential to unfold in this event now in the best interests
of ALL concerned. 

However, I would like to bring the attention of the Co-learner's group to this message, 
received a few days ago by me, which is decidedly disturbing. And since it certainly effects all 
of us, feel that it should be discussed as it is an act of violence whether it is true or not.  We 
do know that all the legislation has been passed to create martial law and that the only thing
that any president has to do is to put it into effect.  

If this is, indeed, the plan, then I feel it would behoove us to very quickly organize an effective
and non-violent alternative to what is proposed here,. and which would provide for a Just Third 
Way.
