Among other items, this message includes an interview with Chris Hedges, author of American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War on America, conducted by Amy Goodman of Democracy now. While I have
had knowledge of this for quite some time, it seems more chilling today than ever. And there is even greater understanding
of why Freke and Gandy write their books and speak out so vehemously against "literalist" religion.

There is nothing wrong with religion, the problem started with the Romans who falsified the religion and used it to oppress and control people, which later on the Catholic Church, the ultimate power over all monarchs, further misused religion by getting various monarchs in Europe to fight one another and to accumulate wealth and LOTS OF SEX where each virgin has to go to bed with the priest to check her out before she gets in the sack with her husband to be. Robert, I very much disagree with you because, as we are learning, some
belief systems can do tremendous damage to others as well as those who
blindly believe in them themselves. Particularly when these systems may be
designed to manipulate people for political gain. And, those who want to
manipulate others using religion promote the idea that religion is a "sacred
cow," and should never be discussed intelligently. Instead of sweeping this
under the covers, it is a subject that needs to be discussed so that new and
relevant information can be brought into view, so that all of us may make
more informed and intelligent decisions that 'do no harm.'
So, let's bring religion out of the dark and into the light, if it is
designed with integrity, it will not suffer from examination. .
