Nick,
Are you advocating the use of repayable (and cancellable) interest-free loans for defined purposes or non-repayable 'printed' money for any purpose?
Also the modern usage of the word 'usury' means 'excessive interest' rather than just 'interest' So any objection to usury is today taken as justification for existing law and practice which condemns excessive interest.

Dear All,
here is a short (concise) answer,
where we can utilise the copious supplies of FREE money,
which the banks have so thoughtfully created for us;
with a high degree of COMMON SENSE,
and ENJOY the process of doing so,
with PLENTY OF TIME TO SPARE !
.....by simply getting rid of USURY,
we can work about a third the amount of hours each week,
and IMPROVE OUR STANDARD OF LIVING.....
(see below: "UNACCOUNTABLE TAXATION").
.....this means that WHEN
something like a "state of emergency" is declared for the environment"
and "all reasonably available resources
are made available for environmental research and development",
we will have PLENTY OF TIME to sit in TALKING CIRCLES
and decide what to do with all of our amazing technology,
(+: MONEY NO OBJECT :+),
and create something like a "technologically enhanced permaculture forest garden"
HERE AND NOW (!)
on the Earth...
"UNACCOUNTABLE TAXATION":
OR HOW:
AT LEAST TWO THIRDS
OF EVERYONE'S WORKING LIFE ON THIS PLANET,
IS BEING STOLEN BY THE BANKS,
TO PAY INTEREST ON CRIMINAL LOANS,
OF VIRTUAL MONEY, WHICH IS
REPRESENTED BY MILLIVOLTS OF ELECTRICITY,
IN A COMPUTER OWNED BY THE BANK. ...
ROUGHLY:
one third of a person's wages goes to pay the mortgage,
one third is tax,
and the remaining third you get to spend...
<!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->
1). Approximate Proportion of Interest paid to the Banks out of the THIRD WE GET TO SPEND:
<!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]-->
<!--[endif]-->
if we buy (for example) a china cup in a shop:-
a) someone has borrowed money from a bank to set up a quarry to extract the china clay from the earth: they are paying interest to the bank on that capital loan
b) someone has borrowed money from a bank to buy a lorry to transport the china clay to the factory which makes the cups:
they are paying interest to the bank on that capital loan
c) someone has borrowed money from a bank to set up the factory which makes the cups:
they are paying interest to the bank on that capital loan
d) someone has borrowed money from a bank to buy a lorry to transport the cups to the wholesaler:
they are paying interest to the bank on that capital loan
e) someone has borrowed money from a bank to set up the wholesale business:
they are paying interest to the bank on that capital loan
f) someone has borrowed money from a bank to buy a lorry to transport the cups to the retailer:
they are paying interest to the bank on that capital loan
g) someone has borrowed money from a bank to set up the retail business:
they are paying interest to the bank on that capital loan
h) all of those people from a) to g) above...
are paying interest to the bank on their mortgages (or the rent which is paying someone else's mortgage...).
i) all of those people from a) to g) above...
are paying interest to the bank on the national debt (out of their taxes).
j) all of those people from a) to g) above...
are paying interest to the bank on the mortgage/rent of all the people who work directly or indirectly for the government (out of their taxes...)
etc etc etc.....
all these interest payments to the banks are coming out of the purchase price of the china cup....
if we add all these interest payments together we find that AT LEAST 50% of the price of ANY item we buy is interest being paid to the banks.
2). APPROXIMATE PROPORTION OF MONTHLY MORTGAGE OR RENT PAYMENTS WHICH IS INTEREST PAID TO THE BANKS
if you borrow, say £100,000 @ 7.5%
over 40 years as a mortgage
to buy a house,
you will have to pay back roughly £300,000 with interest....
<!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]-->
<!--[endif]-->this means that
roughly two thirds
of the third of your wages
which is paying the mortgage
is paying interest on that loan.
<!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->
<!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]-->
<!--[endif]-->
3). APPROXIMATE PROPORTION OF TAX
WHICH IS INTEREST ON THE NATIONAL DEBT
PAID OUT OF OUR TAXES TO THE BANKS.
The Bank of England is a privately owned company.
The government has granted a license to the Bank of England to print money.
The government borrows money from the Bank of England, and the government pays interest on that loan.
That interest is paid out of the third of your wages which is paying tax to the government.
<!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->
Also, almost everyone who works for the government has a mortgage (or is paying rent which is probably paying someone else’s mortgage), and the interest payments for their mortgage is paid out of their wages, which is also paid out of tax. This amounts to something like another 10% of tax being paid as interest to the banks.
Furthermore, everyone who works for the government is spending about one third of their wages as they choose; but as shown above, roughly half of that money is also paid to the banks as interest, which probably amounts to at least another 10% of tax going to the banks.
If we add these together, we can see that well over half of everyones’ tax is paying interest to the banks…or in other words:
MORE THAN HALF OF YOUR TAX
IS BEING STOLEN BY THE BANKS.
ADDING (1), (2), and (3) TOGETHER:
1). ROUGHLY 50% OF THE PRICE OF ANYTHING YOU BUY IS PAYING INTEREST TO THE BANK.
<!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]-->
PLUS
<!--[endif]-->
2). ABOUT 66% OF YOUR MORTGAGE IS PAYING INTEREST TO THE BANK.
<!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]-->
PLUS
<!--[endif]-->
3). AROUND 50% OF YOUR TAX IS PAYING INTEREST TO THE BANK.
EQUALS:-
WE FIND
THAT AT LEAST TWO THIRDS
OF EVERYONE'S WORKING LIFE ON THIS PLANET,
IS BEING STOLEN BY THE BANKS,
TO PAY INTEREST ON CRIMINAL LOANS,
OF VIRTUAL MONEY, WHICH IS
REPRESENTED BY MILLIVOLTS OF ELECTRICITY,
IN A COMPUTER OWNED BY THE BANK....
THEREFORE:
IF WE SIMPLY ABOLISH USURY,
WE CAN WORK ABOUT A THIRD OF THE HOURS IN A WEEK,
(CONSEQUENTLY DOING A THIRD THE AMOUNT OF ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE...)
WHILE IMPROVING OUR STANDARD OF LIVING,
AND HAVE MORE THAN TWICE AS MUCH LEISURE TIME....
to sit in TALKING CIRCLES
and decide what to do with all of our amazing technology,
(+: MONEY NO OBJECT :+),
and create something like a "technologically enhanced permaculture forest garden"
HERE AND NOW (!)
on the Earth...
(sorry for shouting :+)
HIGH TIDES AND GREEN GRASS FOREVER !
