Whoops! There's Ron Paul creeping in again - "you and Ron Paul". How is it that some "progressives" think that Ron Paul is one of us? And assume we all agree - that it's an established truth. For another view of Paul (and of all the candidates) see: http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=7762 by Richard C. Cook.

We have to be intellectually very vigilant at this critical time.

Yes, Urban's piece is good. And don't leave out the push-coming-to-shove!

"Society is seriously handicapped because its two most important intellectual underpinnings, the science of matter-energy and the historic system of finance, are incompatible." -- M. King Hubbert

Mary thanks much for forwarding this article by Mr. Cook. You know he is a list member, and we tried to get a dialogue going re his thoughts on economics. But he wanted me to go back and read a lot of the articles he'd written for Global Research, but I just didn't have the time. So, this very long article gives us a good overview of what Richard's policies are. And, I very much liked what I read except that the environment was left out. This provoked the thought earlier today that instead of the corporations having "personhood" it should very much be Mother Earth who is protected in this manner. Instead the corporations and the rest of us for the main part, plunder Her for all she's worth. I have long thought that there should be CC&R's that run with the land in perpetuity. CC&Rs meaning covenants, conditions and restrictions which can be written in such a way as to protect the land from abuse. CC&Rs would restrict things like chemical use, monocropping,
clear-cutting of forests, use of public land for cattle grazing, strip-mining, and other uses that damage the land in such a manner that future generations are denied the use of it. What we have done is to steal the rights of future generations from enjoying their natural inheritance. And this should be crime punishable in a court of law.

As for Libertarianism and Ron Paul, do you recall my revelations as to how closely Paul is politically-related to George W. Bush via the very Republican-oriented Amway Family and its association with Blackwater? And, I also, using Roy Madron's GAIAN DEMOCRACIES to do so, thoroughly debunked the idea of Libertarianism as being able to solve any of our problems. But, except for a few die-hards, Paul has pretty much been put to bed in this election. And, I was glad to see Cook's analysis of the gold and silver issue. Like Gore, I believe Paul would do better leading some sort of cause outside of politics.

So, anyway, Mary, and Richard too, with love and in gratitude for all that you both do, and for all that we do together when we dialogue and get closer to the truth as Co-learners.

We must be the change we wish to see in our lives. M. Gandhi

Urban, This, for me anyway, is the most sensible post
you have made on the subject of money. .

with love and in gratitude for all that we do together.

thanks Clement Clarke for the clear thoughts on this!

CC: " Money is a trap. . . . . . Money
is not necessary, except to feed the money machine that we ourselves
created.

But, we have forgotten that. Or, we never knew. We fell into the trap
that interest has to be paid on it because loaning it is a risk.
Baloney! It came from nothing in the first place. There is no risk. . . "

Urban: I find we are so brainwashed (MR might say subconsciously programmed) that most "don't get" even these simple facts about money. What does it mean if lenders are not actually risking anything? Mature educated intelligent folks I have discussed this with, still think that we should be grateful we can borrow money for our education, mortgage, business, etc. and should be glad to pay interest --as a sort of rent on something the lenders are providing for us. It "does not compute" that we are borrowing our own money, created for us based on our paperwork and promises.

It is indeed a trap. I see the way out as beginning with understanding the trap. Education. but the education system is designed by the moneylenders who control what we think, and they make us (most of us) go into debt and become debt slaves just to get the education which steers us away from understanding the true workings of "economics."

As a parting shot, i'd say that a lot of bankers don't even understand it, and it wouldn't matter if they did. They could not change it. It is now a clockwork mechanism running on its own, prospering those who support it and disempowering any who try to expose or subvert it. I think once it is universally understood we can turn away from it, but that understanding is so far very powerfully opposed by the machinery "we," as you point out, have put in place.

Keep up the good work of education. Guys like you & Grignon & Ron Paul & countless others are part of a growing movement! and the degradation of the planet caused by the money trap is getting more attention by the day.
