WE ! ! ! have the power. !!!!
The economy is only one way to produce and distribute goods and
services.
"The market" is a false measure of the value of goods and services.
We-the-people determine the market value. We can stop buy over build
houses.
We can stop buying goods and services we don't need. We can eat lower
on the
food chain. We can do more for ourselves. We can bring up our
families to
avoid the unneccesary. We can join the non market organizations like
organic
gardening, solar energy, CoHousing, Peer Lending, and many other social
innovations that are available.
My own kick right not is the World Food Organization. It it trying to
build a world
wide network of local nutrition and horticulture experts. It urges us
all to take
an internship with a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), a WWOOF
(Working
Weekends on Organic Farms) 4H Club, or other local alternative food
system, and to become an expert and to have our own window sill. roof-
top or converted-lawn garden. To carry our gardening expertise to the
Third World, or poor Neighborhood in America, for our vacations.
The rapidly rising food prices around the world is only a warning of
what
will hit us all as the oil prices hit new highs. This is all about
the economy
and how WE can change it.
Instead of buying luxuries with our government rebate we can visit the
garden
and seed store an join othrs changing the economy.

m.r. Bill, this is all excellent stuff. However, we have been trying, without any success to get people to do this for 40 years or so. Yet, instead of things getting better they get worse.
So, isn't it time to address the problem of "why"? From where I sit it is because people are running on "auto-pilot" -- that is, their sub-conscious mind has been programmed to do otherwise. And until the sub-conscious mind is "reprogrammed" it will continue to run on auto-pilot. Not only are we being programmed continually by the media, but we are indoctrinated into this type of behavior from the day we enter the school system and teachers begin teaching to the left side of the brain. All of this due to an educational system instituted by the Rockefellars to do this exact thing. But this was only an addendum to what had already been done by the Church when the dominator paradigm was begun way back when people were ordered to connect with God only through an ordained priest.
Not only that, you have children being indoctrinated by their parents who pass on the same teachings to their children that they themselves were given.
And, while some of us have chosen to "reprogram" (transform) our minds, the majority of the population is still running in the same old groove as they were programmed to do.
And, as Dr. Bruce Lipton tells us in "the WISDOM of YOUR CELLS" people have to make a conscious choice to reprogram themselves. So, the choice to become "more conscious" must come from within the individual. But, this requires getting out of one's comfort zone and entertaining a new belief system.
And, until someone makes this choice to reprogram themselves, you can talk to them and present all kinds of good ideas until you are blue in the face and they just don't get it -- they don't perceive what you are saying. They are unable to connect the dots -- they still just go driving down the highway of life with only a small view of the world through one side of their windshield. A very lopsided view. But there is nothing you can do or say that will change this -- individuals can only change themselves and they must make the choice. You or I cannot change anyone else. We can only lead by example and hope that others will make the choice to change their belief system and follow our lead.
