Robert,
The Bali conference is big stuff in theory but unless it supports monetary reform there is no hope of solving the big environmental  problems which are also inextricably involved with poverty.  As you indicate, monetary reform is the crux of the matter.

The good news is that I know of seven monetary reform submissions which have now been made to the UNDP and there could be still be a few more to come before the deadline of 30th October. 

 So at least a proper effort is being made even if it ends up in the waste paper bin.
