Dear Dick Clifford, Old Friends, and All Defenders Of The Status Quo On
My Copy List,
My sincere thanks, Dick, for a timely and scholarly presentation of our
present condition, and for the 4.5 billion year earthly time line which
brought GAIA and the rest of us to our present condition. Your note to
ERANet and reference URL are appended below for the benefit of readers on
my nine mail lists and a blind list, if there are any left who have not
tired of seeing the same figures over and over again.
Tomorrow, I will have experienced the last eighty-three years of your 4.5
billion year earthly time line, so your presentation was a timely
birthday present, a nice supplement to Doug Everingham's kindly request
"to see a specific proposal from me for reform of the US and/or world
financial system, such as an appraisal of the Robertson-Bunzl proposals."
I agree with you, Dick, that economic reform, like religious reform, is
best left on the back burner until someone defines the economic or
financial defects of our modern industrial national economies. I have
not been able to define them from my personal experience, 1947 to date.
My research in our oldest history book only reaches back to the mirror
year of the US Federal Reserve System, B.C. 1913, but since then, the
structure of social policy to enable an optimum development of human
potential has not changed. It has simply been regarded by the few as too
advantageous to be wasted on the many. Let them eat cake! Perhaps, I'll
get lucky in my next few posts and make the single systemic defect of
Western Civilization a politically correct topic in our public debate.
Thanks again, Dick, for the conceptual framework that defines our present
condition, and still leaves room for all contributions.
Kind regards,
Wes Burt

Greetings All,
Last November I sent an open letter to the Prime Minister but got very
little response. The Government continues to look after big business with
out regard to the fact that big business needs to take the lead in
installing fossil free generating plant and transport.
While the media has given a somewhat improved coverage of Climate Change
it still gives little coverage to Peak Oil or Over population. A couple
of months ago there was some discussion on this net asking if the
problems were real. It most certainly is! I have also heard a worrying
story about a government employee being threatened that he could not give
a paper on his development with solar cells because government policy was
in favour of sequestration.
So I have written a piece in which I try to make the scientific basis
clear, a plan we should follow to reduce the dangers, and conclude with a
section showing the misconceptions held by many politicians and
advocates. It is also short enough to be digested by anybody. You will
find this on:
<http://www.users.on.net/rmc/lastwarning.htm>
Who am I to write this? No body of any importance! I have no
qualifications just a life time interest in science. I am sure that on
the receiving end of this message there are many who could make a better
job of it. Perhaps you should. My message will not get very far, but we
need to spread very far if its aims are to be achieved. We all need to
work at it.
I have made little reference to the need for economic reform. This is
because it is not clear to me what policies the ERA recommends. I have
been told that this is to be remedied in the near future.
Please let me know of any errors, or any improvements that could be made.
Dick Clifford.
