Dear Dough, Jill and all interesting in consolidating action locally and globally for addressing the climate change,

  Greetings for peace,

It is sad that ecologically hostile business and military interests should prevail in defining the shape of governance at a time when the Stern report and Intergovernment Panels latest report calls for immendiate actions for addressing the climate change . Stern report , we all know argued for generating business sense in getting the acts together for best interests of all. It is sad , that we should get in the discourse of competetive disadvantage and advantage as US is not ready to meet the emission targets and India and China seek the costs for addressing the climate change.

We as part of the humantiy , men and women are faced with a collective global challenge. We need to address the challenge and I am not sure whether there will be results in the long terms. it was equally sad for some of experts pronouncing that we will have to live with the situation. I wonder, why we are not calling collectively for transforming the fossil fuel based leisure engagements. Why do not we call for holding all the conferences in sunlit rooms and halls.. we would be saving lots of energy if we only join voices and avoid conference halls not utilising sun light..This is so simple for all of us..We need to use all the means for eliminating carbon emissions individualy and collectively..

We need to suggest what I call ecological audit of consumption and production patterns. we also need to follow the commands for prayer and donations mention more than 50 time in Qur_an. I am sure that are as many references to all the common monotheistic texts.. With adoption of prayer 5 times a day , we would be able to get the results for oursleves and all in the nations. Zero emission hours needs to multiplies everyday and by all..Cities with more and more energy intensive services need to follow this as rural areas in several countries continue to have ecologically sustainable energy use patterns.

We need to get these faith based instruments adopted globally.

  With warm regards

          Jill,
Not having seen the article(s) referred to his is the impression I get:

Prodi resigned because the party/coalition who selected him withdrew
support.
A critical mass ('balance of voting power') turned against him under
pressure.
That pressure included pro-'business' interests that put economic and
military
alignment with Washington ahead of the fair and sustainable needs and
sentiments
of most Italians.
Such domination of governments by profit-seekers is inevitable while
voters, media,
policy makers and economists fear loss of investment, jobs and
international
influence if they move before competing countries to curb
powerful,corporations in
the interests of the wider community.
I hope this suggests ways to put your case even if you don't agree with
all I wrote. -- Doug Everingham.

Can anybody help with the SP situation re Prodi's resignation? It's
hard for me to discuss in basic Italian with people who still aren't
sure what they're dealing with.
I understand the government fell because of Prodi's decision to send
200.000 troops to Afghanistan & grant the US a new base in the north.
Lots of demonstrations as a result. I see his international scene
therefore as being competetive in terms of what grants power to friends
of the US. It's a fascinating subject, but I'm ill-equipped to discuss
it without free access to the internet - & in Italian.
I've got a great local Adopters' group. There's loads of other stuff to
discuss in the face of a real election, but this oissue is way above
all others at the present time.
Hoping for a response.

Best, Jill

Jill,

I've read the BBC article but I'm afraid I can't deduce from it
anything concerning competitive disadvantage or that Simpol could make
any significant mileage out of.

With all the meetings and presentations to be given next week, I'm
really pushed for time at the mo. So would suggest you draft a letter
and I can look over it quickly if you want.

all the best
John

Dear John,

I'm sending you a couple of articles in English re the Prodi
resignation. We don't know the outcome yet - whether he will stay or
what. thbis is an urgent call for some help.
The main factor is the unpopularity of the alliance with US to send
troops to Afghanistan & also the new US base i9n Vincenca. The reason
given (though I don't think in the articles (not properly read yet) is
th regarding loss of international status I see this as being
competetive & therefore Simpol stuff. There's also the loss of work
through the tARGETEDC cHINESE MARKETS.. M y battery now needs charging,
so I've fot to gohome to do that. I'vee bought 4 pan Italia papers &
want our Puglia group to write on Sunday, re Simpol. Can you possibly
help by drAFTING A LETTER FOR US. I'll comer back to you with more
thoughts when my battery's charged.
Many thanlkds. J
