John, this is ludicrous.  Our present school system is the cause of our
dilemna today in that the emphasis is on left-brain dominant learning.  This
system was "instituted" at the beginning of the Industrial Revolution in
order to stifle creativity and turn out workers appropriate for the assembly
line.  It was brought into the U.S.from Prussia by the
Rockefellars/Rothchilds,
but reinforced the dominator paradigm" (rule by patriarchy) which was
instituted -- 
first, by force by the Kurgans, founders of the cattle culture consciousness
 
which underlies our system today; and officially recognized at the Council
of 
Nicea in 345 by Constantine, when he chose Christianity over Mithraism as
the
official religion.  However, much of the bovine-worshipping (mainly of the
bull 
as a sign of virility) Mithraic religion was incorporated symbolically into
Christianity.   

This has led us into the world as described by Orwell, as it created
unbalanced 
social systems largely devoid of right brain or feminine qualities of
influence and 
focused on the development of technological advances directed toward the 
creation of war driven by the "fear" factor built into religious dogma which
sought 
to rule by force rather than  by the power and presence of the inner 
Christ-
Consciousness.  Let us remember here the millions of women (and
heart-centered 
men) who were put to death in the Spanish Inquisition, through being burned
alive 
at the stake or in vats of boiling water, condemned as witches, as they
continued to 
access their higher consciousnesss by natural means after the Church had
issued a 
Papal Bull (decree) that God could only be accessed through an officially
designated 
priest of the church. 
 
Nowhere is the "dumbing down of America" demonstrated more graphically than 
through the work of Dr. Carla Hannaford, documented in her book "Smart Moves
- 
Why Learning Is Not All In Your Head" as she reveals research showing that 

"In the villages of Lesotho in Southern Africa, social values and communal
practices support early childhood development much more effectively than
ours do.  The benefits for the children are substantial. . . . Of the 10,000
children assessed for learning readiness in Kuazulu, South Africa, prior to
school entry each year, the black rural children have consistently scored
far superior to the white urban children on all but three of fifty
assessment tests. . . ." The blacknterest of all concerned. evel of learning
proficiency, body/mind integration and a strong motivation to learn. . . .
These cultures have much to teach us about valuing people, early sensory
motor stimulation, encouragement of responsibility, language development and
interpersonal relationships." 

While Dr.Hannaford continually demonstrates that the human mind is far
superior to that of any computer system, when developed to its full
potential, people (and mainly left-brain dominant men,like John Gelles and
George Bush) try to lure us into believing that "soulless" machines
that act without conscience are the answer.  I say "Get a life, John" and
Wes Burt as well. 

And, to all you "Goddesses"  (and heart-centered men), we need to rise up
and take back our power.  Let's get Carla Hannaford on the speaking circuit
and on all of the top-rated shows like "Oprah", and "move-on" with this. And
 if you love that left-brain-thinking person in your life, but they drive
you crazy with all their "bull", don't divorce them, learn how to transform
them. And, as more and more women have tried to emulate men today, there are
a lot of left-brain-thinking
women as well. 

Think:  TRANSFORMATION to  INTEGRATION AND BALANCE.  

I am holding the field for the fullest potential to unfold in this event now
in the best interests of all concerned.

_Wes seems to me to be in the good company of
billionaire William Gates: they both see the need
for really good schools from pre-school to graduate
school, especially in the primary period from, say,
age 4 to 14 -- and later too, on to graduate school.
 
Ideally, we would finance these schools from all
directions, including national grants and loans,
private sources, local and regional sources. We
would spend a fortune perfecting them -- and we
would leave room for home schooling and private
experimental schools that were open to the free
press (to avoid criminality) and open to new ideas
of how to learn and what to learn.
 
Separate from such formal educational reform
would be the great Google-like effort currently
under way to provide for all children and adults
all the resources of libraries on line to promote
life-long learning and teaching of everything
worth doing.
