Robert, aren't you in England? Never underestimate dumbness in
America. :-)
Seriously though, everyone is dumb, including myself. If it were not
for our mutual capacity to grow and learn, then there would be no
point in communication at all. Unfortunately, experience is the best
teacher, not wisdom. Wisdom is just a seed, it needs time to root
and flower. What once seems like a crazy idea (love your enemy,
jubilee) does eventually make perfect sense.
Richard, why do you assume I wrote it? :-)
I did, just kidding. You can republish this and anything I write
without permission.
Thanks for the attaboy.
Don't underestimate how difficult it is for people to love their
enemy and forgive debts, however. To do so also requires recognizing
ones own faults and forgiving themselves, too. The mirror is a
treacherous place. Perhaps the most treacherous place of all. The
one thing that we have absolute control over is ourselves, and it is
ourselves that is the most difficult to change. By offering a
political roadmap out of this quagmire, the underlying problem is
still "spiritual self-esteem." We are everything we hate in others,
ergo, the love and forgiveness we offer is because we need it for
ourselves, too.
Robert, what is "self-evident" is anything but. That is also why the
Declaration of Independence is such a farce. It basically says that
it is self-evident to hate the King, declare war, and kill people.
With such a hypocritical beginning (and every nation begins the same
way,) it takes many generations to filter out all the lies we learned
from our forefathers. The only way to change the world is to change
ourselves, particularly in regard to the use of power and money. A
virtuous society can only be created by virtuous people, and the
hypocrisy of the hypocrites is "self-evident" in our own mirror.
When our own hypocrisy is "self-evident" to ourselves, that is when a
big change for the better will occur. History has many examples of
this, too.
There is a reason why I have this graphic on my website: http://
