Dear Mary Rose,

Yes, the Earth Charter site is inspiring.

Seeing their site I see the need for product and service
labeling that goes well beyond the EER (energy efficiency
rating) for appliances in the US.

It would add three more ratings and then a composite score
of the four, for "typical use:"

	1. EER
	2. Energy required to manufacture (or providc/serve)
	3. Resource content -- weighted by scarcity of
the resource (i.e., zinc vs. gold vs. plastic)
	4. Recoverability efficiency -- including
probability of recycling and further costs
		to recovery

Indeed, we could add a fifth:

	5. probability of harm to the individual, for example
		20% fat hamburgers

Now when someone buys at McDonald's they can assess everything
from packaging to the meat. It would also be on airline
tickets and cars.

Thanks for the posting.

Regards,

Curtiss
