I was able to watch only a portion of the production. I would like to
report that despite its flaws, I thought it technically very well done. I
am a Counseling Psychologist and therefore focused on the educational
and therapeutic value of information and media potential in trauma and
healing. The first principle in any healing regimen is, of course, "to do no
harm". Exacerbating fear has no place in trauma recovery/human growth
and development, so I am grievously concerned that less educated viewers
will be
overwhelmed, confused, terrified into reacting with ever more draconian
warfare and covert operations by this "docudrama".
As I was able to view the piece from an interdisciplinary perspective,
however, the lesson of your portrayal to me was clear: the world is
now too
small and interconnected to persist in global over-exploitation, mercenary
corporate conquest and multilateral terrorism. The time is NOW to honor
our religious and/or ethical "faith" and wage not war but PEACE with
conscious,
unconditional love, compassion, dignity, respect for everyone and all of
life, as was taught by Christ, Mohammed, the Buddha, Moses and all the
world's wisest leadership, ancient and modern, spiritual and secular.
Only a global peace through ecological wisdom imperative will prevent
the human misery, fear, ignorance, cynicism, incompetence,
degradation and murder that threatens everyone, everywhere with "terror".
In the current context, the U.S. and Israel should heroically and
brilliantly
lead by example: withdraw (militarily, demographically, economically) from
territories inhabited by other ethnic communities and retool the military-
industrial complex into an environmental health, education and well-being
infrastructure of global proportions. If the "human family" is not capable
of this level of cooperation (and tragically, may not be) we are doomed
to recurring cycles of international warfare pollution/devastation
and genocide as evidenced by human history and current events.
Please reconsider the counterproductive, deadly pattern of geopolitical
dominance and the adversarial worldview that excuses militant conquest
and violent resource appropriation. We all must profoundly realize that
when
precious resources are shared fairly and creatively there need be no
conflict. It is SO simple! This is the " Sacred Truth" that all
cultural leaders and
traditions are responsible for implementing on behalf of God/Allah,
humankind, our
beloved children and generations to come.
In the modern global community, in which we are all neighbors,
the media has an essential role in preserving human wisdom, dignity, mutual
respect and cooperation as we collaborate internationally to promote the
ecological integrity and viability of the earth and biosphere on which we
all depend.
Please help us. Thank you for reading this message.
In peace and prayer, JoAnne
p.s. If anyone does read this, please forward it to Charles Gibson. I have
always respected him. The "failure of imagination" and "reaching out"
that he referred to will be rectified and accomplished if only this humble
but extensively educated and researched lesson is agreed upon by an
enlightened world leadership.of the wealthy and powerful.
