[GJM] Press Release against notice of PWD, Khichripur, Delhi for the slum dwellors at Nehru Camp, Pandav nagar

Dear Mr Alam:
   
  If the dwellers are being removed on account of new plans put in place by Delhi Government then following questions arise:
   
  Why not each and every dweller be provided with alternate and adequate accomodation ?
   
  The plea that many are Illegle occupants is a lame logic if coming from the Municipal Authorities because if the dwellings are illegle enchroachments they WHY government have been collecting Electricity, Water bills from the area and why were the Roads developed?
   
  No NGO intervention would help because we see government going on the set plans. Government has decided rules to favour a few at the cost of suffering to many.The only way to tame the Government is to move to the Court and let the APEX Court decide the sanity in Government moves.
   
  In the name of Development, Globalization, Privatization and going on their set agenda to make Delhi a Euro I or WEuro II Compatible city, interests of millions of people are trampled.
   
  Government that is SERVANT of people has started acting like the MASTER. All elected representatives get their salaries and kitchen rations from PUBLIC money that is contributed by you, me and any other citizen like the people in Kichripur but the autocratic and haphazard way of government working simply points out to INSANITY.
   
  A strong PIL, a counter move to such government moves with the help of a strong and notoriously established Legal counsel like the one who has helped in the past some ministers and or other elites to get away from the the clutches of the Law for the offences is the need of the hour. People must however, in such cases adopt, learn and keep to their side the same policy as the corrupt goons have been doing for years. Tit for Tat is precisely what I suggest.

  Slum Dwellors at Khichripur has received a notice by PWD on 18/8 and have been asked to vacate the slum within 21 days .It has been also said that if that not happen then within 21 days, police will be used for removing the slum dwellors. Delegation of the slum dwellors has met them. Representatives of CADAM and Labour League Foundations have met the slum dwellors and they are in regular touch. People there are scared and they are appealing for prevention the demolition. There is no assurance of alternative plots as Mr.Walia the minister thinks that the land belongs to the road.
   
  I would like to appeal to organisations such as Hazard Center and Aashray Adhikar Abhiyan and others with more years of work for slumdwellors and shelter to intervene.
