Robert Seare writes in part:
Dear MH,
I do now feel you have fully revealed your true
colours, and I am in no way suprised. I think the idea
of waiting for some kind of a disaster to bring about
small "zero growth" eco-communities is a shameful, and
backward stance to take. What if this "disaster"
could lead to the death of millions on planet if
something serious is not done NOW? One of those
millions could be you, or me, or even some relative,
your son,your daughter...?
My reply:
Robert, my mission over the past 20+ years has
always been to assist as many people as possible
through this great time of crisis. However, I do
believe that the statistics being that during the
time since World War II, the people of the U.S.
created the most prosperous nation in the
history of the world, yet at the same time created
more environmental devastation than at any time
in prerecorded history, demonstrates that we are
not about, as a collective consciousness,to enter
into sustainable living practices.
Just as with the addiction of individuals to things
like alcohol, gambling, drugs, etc., in many instances
the only thing which may be severe enough to jar
them out of the stupor created by their addiction is
a life crisis which threatens to disrupt their security,
e.g., a wife leaving her husband, the threat of death
from liver damage, etc.
What appears is that the only thing which may be sufficient to jar us out of
our stupor of addiction to current lifestyle of excessive consumption,
creating wars as a way to resolve issues, and other destructive behaviors,
may be the intervention created by a world crisis of the magnitude of global
climate change.
While the GMS may have been the "siren's song"
that led us into our present dilemna, the truth of the
matter is that without the complicity of the majority
of the people in the U.S. (and in other industrialized
countries) the present system could have not
succeeded as it has in setting us up for the present
apocalypse.
In our own way we are all guilty and
have acted as a "collective consciousness" to
set up our own experience.
Whatever, we are now involved in a crisis unprecedented in recorded global
history. But those with foresight have been warning us about this potential
crisis for at least the last 30 years and we have chosen to ignore the
warnings. Now strong "visual evidence" not hypothesis is telling us that the
witching hour has arrived -- what Al Gore's movie
"The Inconvenient Truth" tells us, by presenting the
indisputable evidence visually, is that it is by far too late
to turn back global climate change, we must now learn
to live with it.
Unfortunately, millions if not billions of people will be unable to
withstand and survive the catastrophic change that is about to befall us.
Too use to the "easy life" we are totally unprepared to withstand the
challenges with which we are being faced.
You know, we are not the first civilization to fall by the wayside in this
game of life. We may not be the last.
And, to insinuate in your message, as you have that I
do not have empathy or compassion for others, is IMHO
an act of sheer stupidity on your part. And, please get
it that I am not insinuating that you yourself are stupid.
BTW, will you please stop saying things about my involvement with
eco-communities" -- I am for
establishing "community learning and information centers" internationally as
a means of re-connecting a majority of people to the source of their
spirit/soul so they may gain the skills necessary to survive this unrecorded
in present human recorded history crisis. There is a
very big difference.
