I thought the Co-learner's group might be interested
in this post to the Consilience Projects list hosted by
Luke Rondinaro. (See below.)

My comment on this with regard to Kauffman's are
that I agree that biology can't really account for the
way a man acts when sitting on a jury; however, i
have written previously that I believe soul resides in
the space where the sum of the parts become greater
than the whole -- not due to a "ghost in the machine"
but simply as a result of the interactions of the
multi-dimensionality of the holographic mind. as
more individuals reach the state of universal
beingness. .

Something which can only be understood in the
context of quantum physics. And as long as the
Christian world, as seen through the eyes of
fundamental and literalist religiosity as espoused
by the Pauline doctrine adopted by the Holy Roman
Catholic Church (which, in turn, influenced all other
relgions) denies that which lay below the line of
observable phenomenon, then the true spirit that
is innate within us (the Christ consciousness)
can never be revealed in its full potential.

The problem, as I see it, is that the true spirituality
that lies within us is too immense to be confined
within the smallness of religious dogma.

To expect to find the magnificense we call God in
the confines of a church, temple or other religious
edifice, espoused by a clergyperson (mostly of the
male demonination), and who is directed not to speak
the truth from his own personal core, but only that which
is deemed appropriate by a self-elected group which
can only be termed a cult, can only be termed an
obscenity. Especially when the purpose is to villify
"the other" and create devisiveness that ends in
war and killing.

I don't know who wrote "there are as many paths to God
as there are people" but true spirit, the Christ-consciousness,
can only be found within. And each of us is on our own path
of learning to find the inner being that sets us apart from all
others, yet at the same time joins us together as one.
No one else can travel this path for us --- it is a journey
we must make alone and as well accept the responsibility
for the choices we make along the way.

Choices appear to be a matter of "experience" and some
further along on their path may make more "intelligent choices"
do to having gained more wisdom through experience. The
mistakes we make are mostly due to lack of maturity or
development of "emotional intelligence". But each of us is
more than any one experience -- so we may be intelligent in
some ways and not in others. It appears also that "traits"
which Woolf calls "holodynes" may be passed down from
generation to generation so "the sins of the parents may be
visited upon the children" -- something we need to learn how
to transcend.

Kaufmann talks of "emergence" and lately I have found myself
using this term rarther than "evolution". While Kaufmann points
out that in some respects evolution correctly describes what is
going on, the use of emergence is more to the point as we
know it today.

With the findings of Dr. Mae-Wan Ho that the human body is
composed of "liquid crystalline" and that we act as both a
transceiver and a receptor, the idea of anything as solid matter
is fast becoming obsolete and the world of the quantum
increasingly important as a reflection of truth.

Subject: Fw: Kauffman on the Edge ...

Kathrine Peil's post here from Chaopysc is great. The Kauffman's article
seems
intriguing, and I wanted to make sure our fellow Cons-P members got a chance
to see the URL for it too, as well as the getting info. on the upcoming book

Hope it piques people's interest here. And, if anyone wants to share their
own takes on it here on our forum, feel free. John, Jay, Eco, Bob in
particular ... Anything you see here that appears to be of special signif.
in the Kauffman piece or that might help shed further light on the subject
of science and religion? ...

If so, be sure to mention it. And, feel free to pass on this article link to
anybody else who might be interesting in seeing it too. Best! (Luke R.)

http://list.uvm.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind0611&L=chaopsyc&T=0&P=23785: Hi All,
Be sure to check out Stuart Kauffman's latest, called Reinventing The
Sacred. This is to be the subject of his next book and a synopsis is this
weeks lead article on The Edge.
See: http://www.edge.org/

(Kudos to Stu for infusing the concept of emergence into the science vs.
religion debate and stepping beyond the naturalistic fallacy, "finding a
natural scientific place for ethics and values".)

Please share this link and these ideas with anyone you might know who is
interested in spirituality. Stuart is hoping that through the internet we
can reach members of all religious traditions -- particularly Islamic -- and
begin shifting spiritual thought in more universal directions.
Thanks and enjoy,
Katherine
