DEAR GLOBAL VISIONARIES,

Eid Mubarak and New Year Greetings 

A new year has begun both in the Gregorian Christian calendar in which it is 2007 AD and in the Lunar based Muslim calendar it is 1428 AH. This is rare and it is worth checking when this last happened. This is certainly a good omen whence powerful symbols like calendars converge and blend as opposed to clashing. It is that time of year to briefly review the past and look towards the future. It has been another difficult year for Muslims as the Global War OF Terror continues(GWOT). Despite the US mid term elections indicating American unease and dissatisfaction there is as yet no clear plan for US withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan indeed the latest news concerns a possible US troop surge. The will of the US electorate needs to be respected as there was a clear demand for change of direction in US Middle East foreign policy. The Democratic party must not collude and play games by being trapped into the debate of tactics concerning the GWOT and US withdrawal from Iraq. The partially awakened US public has no  stomach for an illegal, immoral and costly war which is bankrupting the US Govenment and economy. The USA and Middle East can not afford another two years of insanity and efforts to impeach the President need to be supported for the sake of humanity. If this mess continues a dangerous gulf between the USA and the Islamic world will emerge, a radicalisation of the Middle East and Islamic world and damage to Western interests can be envisaged.     
 Also the campaign to demonise and isolate Iran continues under the pretext of Nuclear proflieration at the UN. With the admission by Olmert of Israel possessing WMD inclusive of a nuclear arsenal and Iran's need for peaceful civilian use of nuclear energy it is clear that the farce of Western double standards is leading to an impasse in the Middle East. 
 This last year has seen the continued demonisation of Islam and Muslims with the Cartoongate, Papal Speech and false flag terror scares especially in the USA and UK. Also the tightening up of antiterror legislation throughout the EU and other parts of the world.
 The good thing is that Muslims are realising that there is a concerted attack at different levels is being recognised and resistance is gathering momentum. This can be seen by the response to these cultural attacks as well as a growing sense for Muslim unity especially between Sunnis/ Shias at a very difficult time in Iraq.     
 Also the Global situation reveals that the global economy is becoming even more unequal and unjust with various reports highlighting the concentration of wealth among the elite and the poverty of the masses. This is not surprising in a world where Might is Right and White is Right and wherein free market liberal economics prevails. Wherein the trinity of Globalisation, Privitisation and denationalisation rules supreme. On the otherhand all the signs are that of a systemic crisis of global capitalism will break out as the unsustainable multitrillion US debt, deficit budgets and draining war will and can only lead to a collapse of the imperial dollar. The crisis whilst being painful provides an opportunity for a new Global Breton Woods to take centre stage with a new holistic sustainable paradigm and world order as nothing else will do. Global Vision 2000 will be focussing on this area this year and plans to be involved in a major event
taking this agenda forward. More details will be sent in due course.   
 This is not a time to cower into our shells. The defeatist attitude which whispers that this does not concern me or what can I do will not suffice. When the future historians write about our era are you going to be seen as one of those who stood for truth, justice and social change or those who remained silent? This is a time for men not mice.
 Those who wish to get seriously involved by sharing their expertise, experience and resources should do so. There is a need to support and collaborate with Global Vision 2000 when an independent global inclusivist Islamic perspective and solution is in the offing. I look forward to real dialogue and support as opposed to a dialogue with the deaf, dumb and blind in the context of the Global War OF Terror.(GWOT)
